2010 Run for Refugees a Big Success!

The weather was cold, the sun shining as 495 runners and walkers took to the road for IRIS’s 3rd Annual Honest Tea Run for Refugees, Sunday February 7th at East Rock Park, New Haven. The 5K Run / Walk was hosted by Desiree Fontaine of News Channel 8, who—along with two refugees from the Congo—thanked participants and sponsors for turning out to support refugees. The Run raised $8,000 to help provide English language instruction for refugees, rental assistance during refugees' first 6 months while they look for work, and legal services for immigrants—including Haitians—who are living in Connecticut. Prizes were awarded to top runners and fundraisers.
