passportIRIS’s Immigration Specialist is available to help refugees and immigrants complete green card and citizenship applications, as well as travel documents and family-based petitions. A modest fee is charged for each completed application. IRIS will also help refugees and asylees complete Affidavits of Relationships AOR) and other family reunification documents. Contact us every October to find out about the Diversity Visa Lottery program.

IRIS will represent indigent (financially needy) aliens in immigration court, or will arrange for an experienced immigration attorney from IRIS’s network of pro-bono attorneys to represent the immigrant in court. Please contact us if you or someone you know is detained by I.C.E. (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) or if you are not detained and are interested in applying for asylum in the United States.

IRIS runs two democracy programs:

  • Citizenship Training classes, to prepare naturalization applicants for the Civics and English portions of the citizenship exam.
  • Voter registration of new citizens at the New Haven naturalization ceremonies.

If you or someone you know is detained OR seeking asylum, please fill out the questionnaire below and return it in person, by mail, or by e-mail.

Once you fill out the application COMPLETELY, we will review it and get back to you. Since IRIS cannot accept every applicant for representation, please make sure you answer all of the questions on the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
