Case Management

Meeting Basic Needs

MTH0294 A Burmese refugees family from Mae La camp is waiting for the check-in at the Suvarnabhumi international airport. They will later take a flight to a third country where they will start a new life.

IRIS Case Managers greet each new family as soon as they arrive in Connecticut. Every refugee family is assigned a case manager to coordinate basic needs “including housing, food, clothing, and public benefits” and help the family craft plans for its future. At IRIS, case managers are the first point of contact for every refugee and play an important role in easing the transition into US culture and society.
