Refugees are glad to be here, but they enter a world of
poverty.
Make a financial donation
That’s why your
financial support is so important. IRIS needs your contributions
to place refugees in decent housing, teach them English,
find them good jobs, and help their children catch up in
school. Donations also help us provide legal assistance,
stock our food pantry, set up healthcare appointments and
show refugees how to navigate our healthcare system. Your
tax-deductible gift will ensure these new families have the
resources and support to adjust to their new homes and become
contributing members in their new communities.

A

special.
When you donate $25.00 or more per gift, IRIS
will mail a hand-signed personalized Gift Card to your recipient.
Help refugee children prepare for school! Children
of families from Afghanistan, Cuba, Liberia, and Sierra Leone
will return to New Haven Public Schools in September. We need your help. Please bring school supplies to the IRIS offices or contact info@irisct.org for pick-up. Backpacks
and art supplies are welcome, too!
Donate a Car! If you have a good car that you no longer need,
please consider donating it to IRIS. We need it for:
- Meeting refugees at the airport when they
first arrive.
- Driving refugee families to doctors’ appointments.
- Driving
families to the Social Security office.
- Enrolling refugee children in school.
- Teaching refugees how to drive.
- Picking up donations.
Please contact Brenda

donation is tax deductible. THANK YOU!
Locally: Volunteer with a refugee resettlement
agency in your area. We depend on community volunteers, churches
and other sponsors to provide refugees with the core services
of resettlement. More importantly, your involvement will
provide these new Americans with much needed friendship and
mentoring. How
to volunteer
Globally: Learn
about conditions which produce refugees. A good place to
start is World Refugee Survey 2000, published by the U.S.
Committee for Refugees.
